In support of Young Minds
My father died when I was six years old and it was not until my early adulthood that I began to come to terms with the loss. As such I have a very clear idea of how traumatic events in an individual’s formative years can impact them for the rest of their life.
I do not believe that I received the support that I now know I needed at the time. I feel extremely passionately about this walk because the main purpose is to raise money for Young Minds. This charity’s cause resonates strongly with me knowing what I know now. No child should lack access to the support and professional help that they are entitled to!
I anticipate that I will spend £5,000 of my savings over the course of the next year to support my walk therefore I aim to raise double this amount (£10,000) for the Young Minds charity.
Here is Young Minds vision for change:
Our vision is clear: we want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health.
To achieve this, that wait for support has to end. If all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, we can stop an emerging mental health need becoming a crisis. This is our purpose – and we are absolutely clear about how we can make it happen.
Through three bold, new strategic programmes, we are focusing our work to have as great an impact as we possibly can for the young people who need us.
